  • About Us: How CLMBR Got Started

Director of Training and Education, Christa Dellebovi, is at the CLMBR Headquarters in Denver giving you a behind the scenes look at how CLMBR came to life.

CLMBR was started in 2019 by CEO Avrum Elmakis and is based out of Denver, Colorado. The CLMBR is the first vertical climbing machine to offer at-home connected fitness. The innovative design allows the user to burn calories while also strengthening major muscle groups. Vertical climbing is designed to provide an efficient full-body workout in only 30 minutes.

  • Bluetooth Compatibility

The CLMBR is bluetooth compatible and users are able to connect with their wireless headphones and heart rate monitors. The machine pairs with most headphones and heart rate monitors, with the exception of Apple and Fitbit devices. The CLMBR screen will only be able to stream CLMBR content and classes, additional streaming services are not currently compatible. CLMBR is not able to receive audio from any external music source.

Please check back in for updates on new compatibility options offered in the future.

  • How is CLMBR different from other vertical climbers?

Vertical climbing is not new. Over the years, there have been countless iterations of the climbing machine, but until now, there have been minimal physical and technological improvements. CLMBR is the first climbing machine to completely rethink not only the design but also the user experience.

    climbr_courtesy-CLMBR.jpg

At CLMBR, we have ditched the old ways of climbing and ushered in a new era of connected fitness. Equipped with a low maintenance, versatile structure and an engaging selection of OnDemand classes, CLMBR promises an innovative user experience, unlike any other climbing machine on the market.

The CLMBR has an open central design plan which allows for users to have an unobstructed view of their screen and maintain the proper climbing form, without any barriers. Standing at 88 inches (about 7’4) the CLMBR is perfect for most home gyms. The machine also includes built-in wheels that give the option of mobility and kevlar belts that offer minimal to no maintenance necessary.

In addition to the attractive physical features of the CLMBR, it also boasts a collection of 400+ classes (guided climbs, collections, challenges, etc) which are included in the Connected Membership. Users can bring the studio to their living room by following along with our 9 Guides as they lead through climbs ranging from beginner to difficult.

The CLMBR workout is low impact and guarantees a high caloric burn in only a matter of minutes by combining intense cardio and strength training. Resistance varies from 1-11 (lowest to highest) and user form can be shifted to engage different muscle groups. From arms and shoulders to glutes and hamstrings, the CLMBR is a full body workout that will have you feeling the burn after each climb.

  • Benefits Of The CLMBR Workout

Vertical climbing is easy on the joints and allows for life-long use without any negative consequences. Climbing eliminates any pounding on your joints and prevents erratic movement that could cause injury.  By combining cardio and strength training into one workout, CLMBR also allows the body to achieve higher caloric output in less time. Research has shown that vertical climbing can burn an average of 22.3 calories per minute and up to 800 calories in a 30 min session.

    Superior Cardio + Strength

The combination of cardio and strength training that CLMBR provides, allows the body to achieve higher output in less time. Vertical climbing tones your arms, shoulders, back, abs, glutes, and legs while also providing a calorie blasting cardio workout. Leg and arm day just became one.

    Higher V02 Max

The maximum rate of oxygen consumption measured during incremental exercise, has been shown to be significantly greater during climbing. Studies have also shown that heart rate is higher while vertical climbing due to the enhanced blood flow and perfusion of arm muscles held overhead against the force of gravity during climbing exercise.

    Continued Caloric Burn

Studies have shown that vertical climbing can burn an average of 22.3 calories per minute and up to 800 calories in a 30 min session Due to the push of higher VO2 max, this level of output allows the body to continue burning fat and calories for hours after the workout.

    Rhythm Based Classes

CLMBR’s Rhythm-based classes are taught to the beat of the music, making it easier to get lost in the moment  and challenging you to reach higher. Some Rhythm-based classes focus on metrics, like tempo, reach, and total vertical feet climbed, while others turn the numbers off and focus on the feeling of your body and the beat of the music.

    Interval Based Classes

Interval-based climbs are time and music-based classes with programmed periods of work and recovery. With Interval classes, you'll improve your aerobic capacity, get a killer calorie burn, and increase speed and endurance.

    Bootcamp Classes

In the Bootcamp classes, you will be on and off the CLMBR, integrating floor work for strength training and climbing for cardio. Floor work may be done with body weight or equipment like dumbbells, resistance bands, or Bala rings.

    Strength Classes

Step off of your CLMBR into these functional strength and training workouts. With the Strength-based classes, you will be led through core and upper-body conditioning workouts that focus on building muscle and endurance.

  • How To Set Up Your CLMBR Membership

    Media-Panel-1.jpg

  • Features Of CLMBR's Membership

The CLMBR mobile app allows you to stay connected to your CLMBR from anywhere. Push notifications about your progress will keep you motivated and notify you when new classes, challenges and competitions are available. You'll be able to choose from over 500 classes, set benchmarks to track your progress and much more!

    Achievements/Badges

As a member of CLMBR’s Premium and Metrics+ membership, every recorded climb that is completed counts towards a badge of achievement. These badges are earned based on several factors during climbing: distance, milestones, streaks, holidays, records, variety, and challenges. The badges collected by completing these achievements illustrate each of these factors and are displayed on their account profile and CLMBR’s customizable screen.

    Goals and Activity Tracking

The Activity Tracking feature helps climbers to keep a consistent record of their completed climbs and challenge themselves to hit personal records. Users can track metrics such as distance climbed, badge progress, and average pace throughout their workout. Additionally, with the Fitness Goal filter on the app, climbers can target the type of workout they are most interested in. Users can select from; endurance, recovery, cardio, athletic performance, and strength training to view classes that specifically focus on their desired goals.

    Challenges

The Challenge feature motivates members to push themselves to the next level during each climb. These challenges highlight a new and exclusive climb that is added monthly. After climbers have attempted each challenge, the leaderboard is generated based on the calculations of distance and time per climb. The most recent addition to the challenges is the La Rambla mountain, which stands at a whopping 13,470 feet.

    Competitions

The Competition feature can be found under the Challenge tab and helps to encourage engagement in the CLMBR community and competition against other climbers. Members can choose to participate in either distance or time-based competitions and will then be matched against four other competitors. The winner of each Competition is determined by comparing each competitor's fastest times from their race.

    Classes

By using the Class feature, climbers can work out alongside their favorite CLMBR guides as they are instructed through assorted levels of classes. There are three difficulty levels of the classes (beginner, intermediate and advanced) and the class collection is constructed to fit every skill level. Each class is timed and recorded, and overall metrics can be viewed after every session. The collection feature can also be used to view the new classes that are offered under a different theme monthly.

    Guided Climbs

The Guided Climb option helps newer climbers test their skills by completing interval climbs with the assistance of a visual aide to follow along with. This feature gives members the ability to view their interval time, target their metrics (tempo, reach, power and distance) and choose their preferred difficulty level, similar to that of the Class feature.

    Benchmarks

The Benchmark feature is a way for CLMBR users to measure their progress and track their endurance, sprint and power levels after each completed climb. The endurance level is how long it takes to climb to 500 feet, the power level is how much power climbers are able to produce in 30 seconds (power is calculated by combining the user’s stroke length, pace, and resistance setting) and the sprint level is based on how many vertical feet can be climbed in 30 seconds.

  • How To Prepare For Your CLMBR Delivery

    machine_twoup_4.jpg

Follow the steps below to prepare for your delivery and ensure a smooth experience:

Verify the following measurements prior to delivery:

    • Your ceiling should be at least 90 inches tall so that there is enough room between your CLMBR and the ceiling.
    • A minimum of 34 x 33 inches is needed for the base and clearance of at least 48 inches behind the machine is necessary for upright lift after assembly.
    • Ensure that your hallways, entryways, staircases and outdoor delivery routes are wide enough so the box can be carried safely to your space. We recommend roughly 16 inches tall x 24 inches wide and 92 inches in length.
    • Ensure that there is an 8’ x 6’ clear space to allow for the set up of your CLMBR. This space will allow enough room for two people to stand on either side of the machine during assembly.

Additional tips for assembly and usage:

    • Place your CLMBR near or close to your WiFi router for the best streaming experience and test your WiFi connectivity before delivery.
    • Do not use extension cords or adapters. The 3 meter power cord that is included in the packaging must be able to reach an outlet.
    • Place a mat underneath your CLMBR to protect your floor and minimize sound. Made of extra-tough material and sized to fit into any room of your home, the CLMBR Mat effectively protects your floors from sweat.

USING YOUR CLMBR

USING YOUR CLMBR

  • Get Ready To Climb

    Proper Form and Muscle Activation

It is important to make sure that your spine is at a 75-degree angle and your torso is parallel to the uprights. Spinal alignment should be kept in a neutral position, and your chest should remain open with your shoulders pinched down and back to avoid hunching and to reinforce good posture. Your feet should be placed in the center of the pedal and secured with the footstrap. Knees should remain in line with the ankles. Your lower body should remain in a squat position, sitting back into your glutes and quads. Ensure there is no rounding or arching of the back. The deeper you sit back into the squat, the more muscle activation you will feel.

    Handlebar Position and Adjustments

In order to adjust the handlebars to your height, place both feet on the pedals and stand up straight, leveling your feet out with one another. Grab the handles to stabilize yourself and take a look at the ten vertical handlebar settings (1-10) on the left and right uprights of your CLMBR. The handlebars move up or down and should be adjusted to shoulder height or slightly below for the most comfortable climb. To move the handle bars up or down, pull the lever and slide the handle bars to your desired height. Push the lever down to secure the setting. Correct handlebar positioning ensures you are getting proper range of motion and maintaining good form.

    Foot and Pedal Adjustments

Foot straps are optional but increase security and stability on your CLMBR. Should you choose to use them, place your foot onto the middle of the pedal and secure the strap across the widest part of your shoe. Adjust the strap so you can fit one or two fingers in between the strap and your shoe to maintain blood flow - the footstrap should never be completely flush or tight against your foot.

    Screen Adjustments

CLMBR Connected has a 21.5” touch screen. The screen display integrates with the machine for improved user functionality and usability. The display tilts forward up to 15 degrees for optimal viewing angles during "off machine" exercise and floor-based workouts.

    Adjusting the Volume

One of the many benefits of CLMBR is the immersive experience. There are two ways to adjust the volume on your CLMBR to your preference: the volume button on the right side of the tablet or the volume button on the CLMBR screen.

    Dip Bar Functions

The bars on either side of the CLMBR are to be used for upper body dips which contribute to the full body workout. Whether used during a bootcamp class or used as a quick arm workout, the dip bars ensure muscle activation.

  • How To Maintain Proper Form While Climbing

Maintaining proper form while climbing is extremely important in order to keep your muscles and joints safe and to prevent strain. Although good form is intuitive on the CLMBR, it’s still important to be actively thinking about good body position, especially when you become fatigued.

    Upper Body

In order to protect your back and neck, make sure that your spine is at a 75 degree angle and your torso is parallel to the uprights. Spinal alignment should be kept in a neutral position, and your chest should remain open with your shoulders pinched down and back to avoid hunching and to reinforce good posture.

Your spine and torso should remain as still as possible and avoid shifting and swaying through the hips. Less movement in the torso will activate your abdominals, helping to strengthen the core and protect your lower back from potential injury.

    Lower Body

Your feet should be placed in the center of the pedal and secured with the footstrap. Knees should remain in line with the ankles. When the knees shift past the toes, it can cause pressure on the joints and tendons. Your lower body should remain in a squat position, sitting back into your glutes and quads. Ensure there is no rounding or arching of the back. The deeper you sit back into the squat, the more muscle activation you will feel.

    Handlebars

A light grip on the handlebars should be maintained throughout the entire workout. Squeezing the handlebars too tight can result in tension in the hands, neck, and shoulders. Keep the wrists long and relaxed.

Correct handlebar position is vital to proper form on the CLMBR.

  • How To Adjust And Get Moving On Your CLMBR

Are you ready to take your first climb? One of the great things about CLMBR is that it’s easy to set up with minimal adjustments needed.

Watch our demo video or follow the steps below!

    1) Adjust the handlebars to your shoulders

    2) Secure the foot straps

Foot straps are optional but increase security and stability on your CLMBR. Should you choose to use them, place your foot onto the middle of the pedal and secure the strap across the widest part of your shoe.

Adjust the strap so you can fit one or two fingers in between the strap and your shoe to maintain blood flow - the footstrap should never be completely flush or tight against your foot.

    3) Test your adjustment and climb

Once the handlebars are adjusted to your height and you’re strapped in, it’s time to test your setup and form on your CLMBR.

Sit back into your glutes and ensure that your upper body and spine are at a 75 degree angle in line with the machine. Move both your arms and legs in a cross crawl motion. While you climb, keep your torso and shins parallel with the vertical uprights of the machine and minimize swaying through the body.

Your spine and torso should remain as neutral as possible and keep your abdominals engaged to protect your lower back. Hold the handles lightly, keep your wrists long and ensure that you can fully extend your arms while keeping your elbows relaxed.

  • How to Prepare For Your First Climb

    _DSC1835_Web.jpg

Vertical climbing is unlike any other cardio exercises. Full body, low impact and efficient, follow the steps below to crush your first climb!

Make sure to wear closed-toed sneakers while climbing. No special climbing shoes are required. Breathable and comfortable athletic clothing is recommended. Be sure to pace yourself and take breaks when you need them. It's also important to make sure that you're keeping a loose grip on the handlebars and taking a second to move your feet. This will help avoid any numbness that may occur in hands and feet while your body adjusts to vertical climbing.

Because of the intensity of the CLMBR workout, it is important to start small and work your way up to more challenging climbs. The CLMBR’s incremental resistance ranging from 1 to 11 offers the option to choose from varying levels of difficulty. By starting with an introductory class on a low resistance and slowly increasing the duration and resistance of your climbs, you will help your body become adjusted to the workout.

Machine Maintenance

  • WI-1012 – Wiping the Upright Tracks

    Applies to the Following SKUs:
    CLCN22
    CLCN23
    CLPR22

    Background

The upright tracks should be wiped down on a regular, biweekly interval, or every 200,000 feet climbed. Wiping the upright tracks reduces the risk of debris embedding into the handle and pedal carriage wheel which may damage the bearings.

    Tools Required
    Clean, dry cloth
4mm Hex Key (if Quick Release pins are not available)
5mm Hex Key (if Quick Release pins are not available)

    Parts Required
SKU # SKU Description Reference Image
    CN02-FA-320 PIN – QUICK RELEASE 6X25MM (QTY 2) PIN - QUICK RELEASE 6X25MM.png

    Procedure

    1. Without standing on the machine, level the handles and pedals so they’re at roughly the same height.
    2. This step requires the silver upright upper pulley lockout pins that were initially installed in the uprights. If pins are not available, use the 4mm and 5mm hex keys. Insert the pins (or hex keys) through the slot in the upper pulley of each upright so that it goes all the way through the upper pulley bracket and prevents the handle/pedal from moving more than about ½ inch. These pins or hex keys need to stay installed for safety until the maintenance is complete.
      Upright Lockout.png

    3. Using a clean, dry cloth, wipe the inside of the upright’s handle and pedal tracks on the 6 faces indicated on the image. Wipe above and below both the handle and pedal carriages. Repeat on the alternate side upright.

DO NOT USE ANY CLEANERS ON THE TRACKS.

If your CLMBR has a decal on the back of the center console, please scan the QR Code to submit a Service Request Form.  If not, please click here to report any Product issues and open a claim under the Limited Warranty.  Be sure to include video and/or images to show the service behavior clearly – the more information the better!

Our team will reach out to you to attempt to resolve your issue.  If the issue cannot be addressed remotely, CLMBR may dispatch a technician to further investigate and troubleshoot.

If your Product has a defect or malfunction covered by this Limited Warranty, CLMBR will repair, replace, or refund the Product at the sole discretion of CLMBR.  If CLMBR determines that a Product should be replaced, CLMBR may not return the original Product to you, nor can CLMBR guarantee replacement or repair of the Product without risk to or loss of data stored on your original Product.

WHAT LAW GOVERNS THE LIMITED WARRANTY?

The laws of the State of Colorado, USA, govern this Limited Warranty, without giving effect to any conflict of laws principles that may provide the application of the law of another jurisdiction.

Any implied warranties, including the implied warranty of merchantability and the implied warranty of fitness for a particular purpose, shall be limited in duration to the period of this Limited Warranty. This Limited Warranty does not extend any implied or statutory warranties, conditions, or representations regarding the Products or any connected software or services.  CLMBR does not assume any liability for any special, indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages of any kind whatsoever, including but not limited to loss of profits or revenues, loss of data, loss of use of the Products, cost of replacement or substitute items, or loss of use during the period that the Product is being replaced or repaired.  Further, CLMBR shall not be liable to you for any special, consequential, incidental, indirect, or punitive damages of any kind whatsoever, even if CLMBR has been advised as to the possibility of such damages, for any claim arising from or related to this Limited Warranty, regardless of the form of action, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), product liability, lost revenue, lost profit, lost data, or privacy, or any other cause of action or legal or equitable theory.

In no event shall CLMBR’s liability for any claim arising out of or related to this Limited Warranty exceed the price paid by you for purchase of the Product, regardless of the form of action, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), product liability, lost revenue, lost profit, lost data, or privacy, or any other cause of action or legal or equitable theory.

Some states do not allow limitation of implied warranty, so the limitations in this Limited Warranty may not apply to you. This Limited Warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state and country to country.  This Limited Warranty does not affect any rights you have under the laws in your jurisdiction concerning the sale of consumer goods (including, without limitation, national laws implementing EC Directive 44/99/EC).
